natural or lab-grown diamondsMore sustainable, ethical, affordable, and colorful diamonds

A technology that brings larger diamonds to a much wider audience.

Currently, the regulations for diamond trade in the European Union are very strict, and 99% of the diamonds sold comply with the Kimberley certification, ensuring they were not obtained through abusive methods of natural exploitation.

However, since natural resources are not inexhaustible and extracting them is becoming increasingly costly, the industry has been working for decades on the possibility of replicating the natural process of diamond creation, which takes thousands of years, in a laboratory and making it more cost-effective.

The current awareness of not purchasing products that have a negative impact on our environment and its sustainability has contributed to the demand for this type of diamonds.

In response to this trend, and considering that their lower price allows many more people to access diamonds or obtain larger ones, since 2018, some major brands have started offering collections of jewelry exclusively with lab-grown diamonds. However, this is still a very emerging trend.

All the jewelry shown on the website features natural diamonds, not lab-grown diamonds. Only if the customer wishes, and only in some custom-made pieces of jewelry, lab-grown diamonds, both colorless and colored, can be used instead of traditional mined diamonds.

diamond growth process

What are the characteristics of lab-grown diamonds, and how do they differ from traditional mined diamonds?

  • Lab-grown diamonds are created using advanced technology involving scientists, engineers, and technicians. There are factories in the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Israel, India, China, and Singapore.
  • The laboratory we are familiar with uses renewable energy, belongs to an international company with 75 years of experience in the diamond industry, operates in over 35 countries, and has its headquarters in New York. It is currently dedicated exclusively to the production and cutting of lab-grown diamonds.
  • There are two methods for diamond growth: High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). Each process is suitable for specific diamond sizes and colors.
  • A lab-grown diamond is as real as one mined from the earth. It is not an imitation or fake. Both types of diamonds have identical chemical, optical, and physical properties, and their only difference is their origin. Therefore, when a lab-grown diamond is tested with the usual diamond identifier, the device will not detect any difference and identify it in the same way as a mined diamond. Only with a new and expensive identifier that emerged in 2023 is it possible to differentiate between a mined diamond and a lab-grown diamond.
  • While a diamond obtained from a mine took thousands of years to form, it now takes between 60 and 120 days to create a diamond in the laboratory, depending on the color and size.
  • Lab-grown diamonds are classified using the same criteria and rigor as mined diamonds, the well-known "4 C's": Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat. Major gemological certification institutes in the world, such as IGI or HRD, also certify lab-grown diamonds, just as they do with mined diamonds, indicating on their certificates that they have been created or cultivated in a laboratory.
  • Currently, lab-grown diamonds represent a tiny fraction of the total diamonds produced each year.
  • Therefore, if two diamonds are exactly the same in appearance and characteristics, the reason to always choose a mined diamond may lie in the satisfaction of owning a diamond created by nature over thousands of years, as opposed to a diamond created within the walls of a laboratory. Or the not insignificant possibility that, over time, mined diamonds may be considered much more valuable due to their scarcity.
